Timber Framing

A 2000 year old art brought to life here in the southern tier by Chuck Kark, an old-fashioned craftsman.

25 Years Experience

A Kark timberframe post & beam home can be made to appear in any style, modern or traditional. The vertical posts, which hold large, horizontal beams, create a spacious, open interior within a self-supporting outer shell. This adds to the design possibilities, by allowing the indoor space to be left open or divided in almost any way imaginable. A timber frame home is a legacy, designed to last many life times. It offers expansive spaces, soaring cathedral ceilings, balconies and lofts. You have complete freedom of choice with interior finishing - massive stone fireplaces, carvings, Rustix WoodbrixTM, or anything you can conceive of. The exterior sheathing options are also unlimited - Kark Long-Lasting Non-toxic wood siding, stone, or brick.

Kark Custom Timber Frame Home

A Kark Lumber timber frame structure goes up quickly. We speed up on site assembly of the timber frame by pre-fitting the frame, usually in wall sections that are laid out on our shop floor. We custom cut all mortise and tenon joints. This can assure a correct fit and with pre-drilling for the pegs it speeds the site construction process.

Kark Custom Timberframe Design

Quite literally in 2-3 days an average size timber frame home can be erected and within a week to 2 weeks after that the shell of the house is ready for windows, mechanical, and roofing. The shell in encased with energy efficient SIP's or Structural Insulated Panels.

Chuck Kark's 25 years of experience building both "stick" and timber frame homes enables him to adapt any set of architectural plans into a timber frame design. A timber frame plan gives a home owner the ability to make a creative statement through the use of custom designed beams, trusses and corbels.

As you can see, Chuck Kark has a fine eye for joinery. He is a sawyer and, more importantly, a craftsman. When you come to him to build your timber frame home, he'll discuss your ideas until he has a thorough understanding of your vision, then he'll select the choicest logs to become your dream home. Chuck has an affinity for wood, and for building with timber. His consistent optimism and curiosity about what is possible and his ability to 'see' your house gives him satisfaction. Give us a call and let us begin to work on your timber frame home.
